9 DAYS LION SAFARI

Your 9 days Lion safari adventure will take you to the Makgadikgadi Pans, a salt pan situated in the middle of the dry savanna in the north-eastern Botswana. The salt pan is one of the largest salt flats in the world. The pan is all that remains of the formerly enormous Lake Makgadikgadi, which once covered an area larger than Switzerland, but dried up several thousand years ago.

The wilderness calling from Moremi Game Reserve is awaiting to be experienced. Located in the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game reserve becomes a lush animal habitat during seasonal floods. Dugout canoes are used to navigate past birdlife, hippos and crocodiles on waterways like the Xakanaxa Lagoon. On land, wildlife includes lions, elephants, leopards and rhinos.

Khwai Concession will be your next destination situated adjacent to the world renowned Moremi Game Reserve. Here you will discover why the Okavango Delta is considered one of the jewels of Africa and indeed the world.

Day 1-2 Makgadikgadi Pans National Park


The Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve, a salt pan– with an area of 3 900 sq. kms is situated in the middle of the dry savanna of north-eastern Botswana. It is one of the largest salt flats in the world. The pan is all that remains of the formerly enormous Lake Makgadikgadi.

Upon your arrival at Maun Airport you'll be collected from the airport and be transferred to Makgadikgadi National Park. The camp is situated  about 140 kilometres southeast of Maun. The eastern bank of the Boteti River forms the boundary of the Makgadikgadi National Park, which stretches away from the riverbank towards its interior of scrubland and mineral rich grasslands. The Boteti River is the main outflow of the Okavango Delta. This area plays host to the spectacular Zebra migrations.

Day 3  Moremi Game Reserve

Peeking out from under a lush green woodland canopy, in Moremi , Xakanaxa area is a truly hidden gem. At the point where the life-giving waters of the Okavango Delta meet the vast plains of the Kalahari Desert, Mother Nature has created a sanctuary of Mopane forests, open grasslands, seasonal floodplains and riverine habitants, resulting in one of the most magnificent and welcoming animal environments in all of Africa.

Day 4: Khwai Concession

Today your destination will be Khwai Consession. The Khwai River flows through the concession and it mirrors the surrounding marshlands. As the first port of call for animals migrating from the Linyanti Reserve, the riverbanks and dry savannahs are abundantly populated with roan and sable antelope, buffalo, zebra, and giraffe among others.

Day 5-6  Savute 

We will spend the following two nights camping in a wilderness campsite in the Savute region, exploring the desert-like landscape of game drives. Never has there been a better time to visit Savute! The water from the Savute Channel reached the marsh for the first time in 30 years in 2010 winding its way from the North. The Savuti channel is now flowing again, this area has seen the return of its prominence as one of the best game areas in Africa. With large herds of buffalo having returned, the lions are also extremely active.

Day 7 Chobe National Park

 

Chobe National Park, with its striking and magnificent landscape, will be your next destination. The Chobe River Front is famous for its abundance of elephants – the highest concentration of elephants to be found anywhere in the world. Chobe is also famous for its huge herds of Buffalo, for its rich birdlife and for its exquisite sunsets – a wildlife experience not to be missed. Camping will be in private designated area with bush ablutions.

Day 8 Kasane Lodge Accomodation

You will break your camp and have your early morning breakfast served at 0600hrs which will be followed by the activity of the day, a game drive will last 3 to 4 hours before leaving the park for lunch at the lodge at 1200hrs.

Prepare yourself for an afternoon boat cruise on the Mighty Chobe River where you will unwind and relax while enjoying the afternoon and having close encounter of the elephants, hippos and water birds. Lodge accommodation.

Day 9 Tour ends

Today your tour will end at 0900hrs .If you choose an extension to Vic Falls, your transfers and accommodation will be arranged. Additional accommodation can be arranged for an extra cost and you'll be dropped off at the airport (or hotel).
